Templeton

Mass of the Christian burial for Evelyn Langel of Templeton will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Templeton.
  Mrs. Langel, 92, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Carroll Health Center nursing home.
  The Rev. Dale Reiff will preside at the Mass. Lectors will be Mrs. Langel's granddaughters: Julie Kluthe, Sara Crabbs, and Stacey Benson. Gift bearers will be granddaughters: Joyce Wessling, Kim Hickel, and Marie Sturm. Eucharistic ministers will be granddaughters: Sister Barb Langel OSB, Lori Lyons, and Cheryl Theulen. Soloist will be Leroy Schultes.
  Casket bearers will be grandsons: Ben Langel, Dan Schoenherr, Scott Eischeid, Alan Eischeid, Steve Eischeid, Bryson Langel, Teddy Langel, Kevin Langel, Brian Langel, David Langel and Keith Langel. The Templeton Catholic Daughters of the Americas, St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary and Dedham American Legion Auxiliary will form an honor guard at the church.
  Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery at Templeton.
  Visitation starts at 2:30 and the CDA will lead a rosary at 3 Friday afternoon at Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. Sacred Heart parish will hold a Christian wake service at 7 Friday night at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Anthony Hospice in lieu of flowers. Contributions can be left at the funeral home or church.
  A daughter of Charles and Anna (Reinart) Eich, she was born May 18, 1915, at Halbur, attended St. Augustine School there and spent her younger years in the community.
  She and Adolph Langel were married Jan. 26, 1943, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Halbur.
  The Langels farmed south of Templeton. Mrs. Langel was a homemaker.
  She moved to Westwood Knolls Apartments in Carroll in May 2006. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and Ladies Guild, St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary and Dedham American Legion Auxiliary and a 65-year member of Templeton Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo, quilting and traveling.
  Survivors include two sons: Gene Langel and wife Tricia of Templeton and Wayne Langel and wife Janet of Spotsylvania, Va.; three stepchildren: Irene Eischeid of Halbur, Vernon Langel and wife Delores of Omaha, Neb., and Dennis Langel and wife Janice of Waukee; 28 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, James Schoenherr, and his wife, Carolyn, of Glidden; a stepdaughter-in-law, Theresa Soyer, of Carroll; and four sisters: Sister Ricarda Eich OSF of Dubuque, Sally Schenkelberg of Carroll, Kay Loughran of Breda and Millie Sporrer of Manning.
  Mrs. Langel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Adolph, in September 1973; a daughter, Lois Schoenherr; a stepson, Merle Langel; a stepson-in-law, Louis Eischeid; three brothers: Alvin, Ray and Herbert Eich; and four sisters: Loretta Eich, Lucy Irlmeier, Helen Eischeid, and Anna Eich in infancy.
