Ann Irene Leckliter
Ann Irene Leckliter was born at Greensburg, Pa., December 27,
1883, and passed away at her home in Corning, Iowa, September 1, 1933,
at the age of 49 years, 8 months and 4 days. In her childhood she was
taken by her parents to Derry, Pa., where she grew to womanhood. She was
united in marriage to Ralph Leckliter in St. Louis, Mo., on July 15,
1918. Soon after their marriage she came to this community, where she
has since made her home.
Mrs. Leckliter was reared in the Lutheran faith and was confirmed
in that church in childhood, where she held her membership until coming
to this community when she united with the Methodist Episcopal church.
She was loyal to her church and Sunday School and her courageous faith
was a type brought her to real strength in time of need. Mrs. Leckliter
has been a great sufferer, being in poor health for several years, and
during the past five years it has been a constant struggle, going
through many operations and a great deal of suffering. Her patience and
cheerfulness won for her many friends in this community. She expressed
many times her dream to go, that she might be relieved of her suffering,
and a readiness to meet the Lord. Several weeks ago she made all
preparations for her funeral.
She leaves to mourn their loss, her husband, Ralph Lechliter,
three sons by a former marriage, Harry W. Rusher of this community,
James Frederich Rusher of Redondo Beach, Calif., and Geo. Kimmel Rusher
of New York City; one brother, James Almes of Williamsburg, Pa., and many friends.
The funeral service was held at the Methodist church Sunday
afternoon, September 3, 1933, at 2:00 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Arthur
M. Eastman. The body was laid to rest in the Oak Hill cemetery.
