Breda Girl Dies in Auto Accident
Jeanne Kathryn Loughran, 16, of Breda, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. John Loughran, was killed Sunday in a one-car accident a mile west
and three-fourths of a mile south of Breda at 11:30 a.m.
Miss Loughran was a passenger in a car driven by Roxanne Marie Carlin,
15, also of Breda, investigating officers said. Miss Carlin and the dead
girl's sister, Barbara, were taken to St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll.
Highway Patrolman Dale Hanson of Carroll said the car carrying
the three girls was northbound on a gravel road when it struck some
loose gravel. Patrolman Hanson said the car went out of control and
rolled over at least twice before coming to rest upright and broadside
on the west side of the road.
Miss Loughran was thrown out of the car. Carroll County medical
examiner Dr. Roland B. Morrison ruled the death was accidental.
Requiem mass for Miss Loughran will be celebrated at 10 a.m.
Wednesday in St. Bernard Church, Breda, by the Rev. John C. Doherty.
Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Breda after 2 p.m.
Tuesday. The Christian Mothers and Rosary Sodality of the parish will
recite the rosary at 3 p.m. Tuesday. Fr. Doherty will lead the parish
rosary at 8 p.m.; and the Catholic Order of Foresters will recite the
rosary Tuesday night at 9. The student body of St. Bernard School will
attend the funeral mass in a body.
Miss Loughran would have been a junior at St. Bernard High School
this fall. She was born at Carroll July 21, 1952, and lived with her
parents at Mt. Carmel until they moved to Breda in 1957. She was a
member of St. Bernard Church, the church choir and the Catholic Order of
Foresters. Her extra-curricular activities in school included drama,
speech, chorus and the Catholic Youth Organization.
Surviving besides her parents, John and Catherine Loughran, and
her sister, Barbara, are four brothers, Michael, Thomas, Richard and
Jimmy, and another sister, Lori.
