John Loughran
Breda - John Loughran, 49, operator of the John Loughran
Insurance Agency in Breda, died Sunday morning, Aug. 15, at the Veterans
Hospital in Omaha, Neb., where he had been a patient for two days.
Requiem mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St.
Bernard's Church in Breda, by the Rev. John Doherty. Burial will be in
the parish cemetery with military honors by the Fred F. and Norman J.
Bruning Post No. 607, American Legion, of Breda. Friends may call after
7 p.m. Monday at the Sharp Funeral Home in Breda, where the rosary will
be recited at 8 and 8:45 p.m. Monday.
Mr. Loughran, a son of John and Kathryn Loughran, was born at
Wakonda, S.D., April 23, 1922. In 1923 he moved with his family to Sioux
City; in 1938, to Storm Lake; and later to Rembrandt and Carroll. He
graduated from Rembrandt High School and attended Berkeley College,
Berkeley, Calif., for two years. He served with the U.S. Navy in World
War II. On Nov, 21, 1949, he was married to Kathryn (Kay) Eich, at St.
Augustine's Church, Halbur, and they made their home at Mt. Carmel,
where he was associated with the Wittry and Loughran Insurance Company,
In 1958 they moved to Breda where the Loughran and Kraus
Insurance Company was formed. Mr. Loughran was a member of St. Bernard's
Church. He also was a member and past commander of the American Legion
post here and was the post's service officer at the time of his death.
He is survived by his wife and the following children: Barbara,
of Denison; Michael, Tom, Lori, Richard and Jimmy, at home; also two
brothers, Ronald Loughran of Wichita, Kan., and James Loughran of
Tarzana, Calif.; and a sister, Mrs. M. G. (Donnadell) Buonanni, Des Moines.
A daughter, Jeanne, his parents, and a sister, Mrs. Doren Stangl,
preceded him in death.
