William Lucas
William F. Lucas, 63, Aledo, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, at
Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.
Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church,
Matherville. Burial is in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Matherville.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today at Family Funeral Services,
Viola. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
He was born Feb. 7, 1937, in Rock Island, the son of Scott S. and
Essie Curry Lucas. He married Mary Hayostek June 22, 1960, in Aledo.
He graduated from Sherrard High School, Class of 1954. He lived
and farmed all of his life in Preemption Township. He was a homebuilder
for 30 years and a U.S. Army veteran.
He loved NASCAR racing and gardening. He was a devoted husband,
father and grandfather. He lived for his grandchildren, Zachary, Caleb,
Alexander and Sean Lucas and Taylor Petersen.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; sons and daughter-in-law, Scott
M. and LeAnn Lucas, Matherville, and Todd A. Lucas, Aledo; five
grandchildren; mother, Essie Lucas, Aledo; sister and brother-in-law,
Janet and Tom Harris, Matherville; brother and sister-in-law, Vern Dale
``Oscar'' and Jean Lucas, Aledo; sisters-in-law, Dixie Hain, Pahrump,
Nev., Margo Hayostek, Boden, Ill., Suzanne Hayostek, Rock Island, and
Alice Johnson, Reynolds; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was
preceded in death by his father.
