James S. Lynch

  Mention was made in this paper last week of the death of James Lynch who passed away Tuesday, May 5. Death was caused by an attack of pneumonia and Mr. Lynch was sick only one week. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Father M. J. Powers from the St. Patrick's church Thursday morning, May 7. James S. Lynch, son of James and Ellen Lynch, was born May 28, 1878, near Garry Owen, Jackson county, Iowa, and passed away at the home of his sister, Mrs. Maggie Sullivan in Mercer township, May 5, 1936, at the age of 56 years, 11 months and 23 days. He came to Adams county with his parents in October, 1883 and the family located on a farm southeast of Corning in Jasper township, which has been his home continuously except for two years spent in Omaha. Mr. Lynch never married and with his brother, P. X. Lynch has operated the home farm for a great number of years.
  He is survived by three sisters and one brother, they being, Mrs. Maggie Sullivan of Corning, Mrs. Helen Colpetser of Kansas City, Mrs. Alice Bentley of Creston and P. X. Lynch of Corning. His father, mother, two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
