Charles Mack Dies; Funeral To Be Thursday
Charles James Mack, 53, Gilchrist, died Monday morning, Nov.
26, 1956, at the Mercer County hospital. He was born May 20, 1903, at
Gilchrist, the son of James I. and Tillie Kehoe Mack.
He spent his entire life in the Gilchrist community. He was a
farmer but in recent years had been employed at the John Deere Plow
Works in Moline.
Mr. Mack was a member of St. John's Catholic church in Viola and the
Eagles lodge in Matherville. He had served as Democratic precinct
committeeman and as director of the Gilchrist school board.
On Jan. 21, 1929, he married Miss Helen Plunkett of Gilchrist. To
this union was born three daughters, Mrs. Keith Miller, Aledo, Mrs.
Everett Dellitt, Aledo, and Miss Trudy Mack at home.
Survivors, beside the widow are the daughters and one
granddaughter. His parents and one sister preceded him in death.
The body is at the Crummy Funeral home in Viola where the Rosary
will be recited at 7:30 p. m., this evening, Wednesday.
Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 8:30 a. m.,
from the funeral home and 9 a. m., from St. John's Catholic church. Rev.
C. M. Meyer will officiate at the Requiem High Mass and burial will be
in the Viola cemetery.
Pallbearers chosen are George Kelvey, Joe DePape, Earl Esp,
William Esp, Glenn Whittington, and Dewey Needham.
