Rites held for Dennis Mack
Funeral services for Dennis A. Mack, 49, of Viola, owner and
operator of Mack Trucking Co., were held at 10 o'clock this morning in
the Crummy & McKitrick Funeral Home, Viola. A mass was celebrated at
10:30 a.m. in St. John's Roman Catholic Church in Viola with the Rev. Ed
Harkrader, pastor, officiating, with the Rev. Tom Mack of the Keithsburg
Roman Catholic Church, the Rev. Richard Slavish of Alexis and the Rev.
C. M. Meyer of Aledo taking part. Burial was in St. John's Cemetery, Viola.
Memorials were made to St. John's Roman Catholic Church organ fund.
Mr. Mack was pronounced dead on arrival at Moline Public Hospital
Sunday night, Jan 31.
Mr. Mack was born Aug. 25, 1932 in Rock Island, the son of Walter
"Pete" and Agnes Schaechter Mack. He lived his entire life in
Viola and received his education in Viola schools, graduating from Viola
High School in 1950.
He married Delores Harbeck Nov 24, 1960, in Davenport.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean conflict.
Mr. Mack was former president and member of Winola Board of
Education; a member of the Viola Area Chamber of Commerce; the church
and its Booster's Club; and Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Joyce at Western Illinois
University, Macomb, and Linda at home; three sons, James, Thomas and
John, all at home; a sister, Eleanor Forsyth of Oscoloosa, IA; a
brother, Tony Mack of Viola; and his mother of Viola.
He was preceded in death by his father.
