Mrs. E. Mack
Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth B. Mack, 86, rural Viola,
will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, at the Crummy Funeral Home in Viola,
at 10 a.m. at St. John's Roman Catholic Church, Viola. The Rev. Denis
Scott, pastor will officiate.
Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited
at 7:30 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Mack died Tuesday morning, Nov. 12, at the Americana Nursing
Center in Moline after a short illness.
The former Elizabeth B. Kelly was born Nov. 29, 1887, in
Edgington, a daughter of Michael and Agnes McDermott Kelly. She was
graduated from Edgington Normal Academy and from what is now Northern
Illinois University.
She taught school seven years in Rock Island County and entered nurses
training at Mercy Hospital, Davenport, becoming a registered nurse in
1916. She retired in 1963 as a registered nurse from the Mercer County
Nursing Home.
On Jan. 1, 1917, she was married to Edward Mack in Edgington.
They lived all their married life in the Viola community.
She was a member of St. John's Church and its Altar and Rosary Society.
Surviving are a daughter, Miss Gertrude Mack of Chicago, three
sons, Donald and Otis, both of Viola, and Michael of Waterloo, Ia.; 21
grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Agnes
Fitzpatrick of Reynolds and Mrs. Charles Vannice of Aledo.
Preceding her in death were her husband, two sisters and a
brother. (1974) |
