Rites Held In Matherville For Miss Mack
Rev. Father Francis Cassidy Celebrates Solemn High Mass.
Funeral rites for Miss Elizabeth Mack, age 75, were held at
St. Anthony's church, Mathersville, Wednesday, Jan. 15. Rev. Francis
Cassidy celebrated the solemn high mass with Rev. Louis Schaechter of
St. Anthony's hospital as deacon, Rev. Joseph O'Dea of Peoria as
sub-deacon and Rev. Schroeder of St. Ambrose college as master of
ceremonies. Two great nephews from Viola served as acolytes. The
Preemption-Mathersville choir sang with Mrs. Charles J. Conway at the organ.
Six nephews were pallbearers. Leo Mack of Reynolds, Joseph Mack
of Taylor Ridge, Bert Mack of Viola, Francis Mack of Lewistown, Mont.,
and Vincent and Louis Mack of Corning, Iowa. Internment was in St.
Joseph's cemetery, Preemption, with Rev. O'Dea former member of St.
Joseph's church, officiating.
Death came on Jan. 13 to Miss Mack at St. Anthony's hospital,
Rock Island, where she had been a patient for several months.
Miss Mack was a member of St. Joseph's church and its Altar
society. Among the relatives from a distance attending the services were
Sister Mary Janela and Sister Mary Clavis, Clinton, Iowa; Sister
Catherine and Sister Elizabeth of the Villa de Chantal, Rock Island;
Robert Mack of Corning, Ia.; Mrs. Thomas Barnes, Miss Josephine Sexton,
Mr. and Mrs. Dan Mack and sons and Mrs. John Griffin of Rock Island, and
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Young of Decatur.

Services for Miss Elizabeth Mack, age 75, were held Wednesday
morning in St. Anthony's Catholic church at Mathersville. Burial was
made in the family lot at St. Joseph's cemetery, Preemption.
Death came to Miss Mack at 12:40 on Monday morning in St.
Anthony's hospital, Rock Island, where she had been a patient for many months.
Among those surviving are three brothers, Michael H. of
Preemption and Edward A. and Joseph C. of Lewistown, Mont. Five brothers
had preceded her in death.
Born in Preemption April 4, 1871, she was a daughter of the late
Daniel Mack and Katherine Mack and had spent most of her life in that town.
Miss Mack was a loyal friend and stood high in the esteem and
respect of all who knew her. (1947) |
