Eugene S. (Gene) Mack
Eugene S. (Gene) Mack, 81, of Grass Range, died early Saturday morning,
Oct. 26, at Valle Vista Manor of cancer.
He was born Oct. 14, 1915, in Lewistown, the son of Ed and Aroline Mack.
He received his education in the Central Montana area graduating from high
school in 1936. He attended college for one year, and in 1942 he entered
the U.S. Army. After his discharge in 1945 he began working on the Alcon Highway.
He then worked as a mechanic in Hobson. On April 19, 1952, he was united
in marriage to Rose Marie Staab in Lewistown. He then began farming and
ranching near Grass Range.
He worked at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls retiring in 1982. He
continued living in Grass Range until earlier this year when he entered
the nursing home.
He was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church, the Eagles Lodge, Moose
Lodge and a member and past president of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife of Grass Range; one son, Edward of Hobson; two
daughters, Anna Marie Mack of Grass Range and Susan C. Ryan of Helena; and
four grandchildren, Jennifer and Eric Mack and D.J. and Chris Ryan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Funeral liturgy was Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Leo's Catholic
Church. Internment followed in Calvary Cemetery.
Vigil services were Monday evening at 7 p.m. at St. Leo's.
Cloyd Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Friends may make memorials to the charity of their choice and they may be
left at the funeral home.
