James "Jimmy" Mack
MT. VERNON - James "Jimmy" Mack, 63, passed away in his
residence at 12:15AM, Friday, May 30, 2008.
Jimmy was born on October 1, 1944 in Davenport, Iowa to
Francis and Marjorie (Daymude) Mack. He was a Navy Veteran of the
Vietnam War.
Jimmy had many successful careers. He was a welder for John
Deere Company, Superintendent of public works for the city of Viola,
Illinois, owner of an oil tank business and a stock car driver. He
started a rodeo career and in 1980 became the champion Bull Fighter at
Madison Square Garden in New York, New York. In 1981 he was selected as
one of two best bullfighters in the world at the International
Professional Rodeo Association finals. He also served as Director of
Operations for the Worlds Toughest Rodeo Production for five years. He
retired from rodeo and was employed by Empire District Electric until
retiring in October 2007.
He is survived by: one daughter, Cassie Carley, Elgin,
Oklahoma; his father, Francis Mack, Keithsburg, Illinois; his sister,
Barbara Kugler, Venice, Florida; one niece, Sheila O'Connor, Victoria,
Illinois and one grandson, Brandon.
His mother preceded him in death.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, June 8,
2008 in the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American
Cancer Society or donor's choice in care of the funeral home.
