James Mack
James V. Mack, 81, of Milan, died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008,
at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Ambrose
Catholic Church, Milan, where he was a member. Burial will be at St.
Joseph's Cemetery, Matherville. Visitation is 2-6 p.m. Sunday at
Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan, where a Christian
wake service will be at 5:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to Trinity
Pathway Hospice or to the Child Abuse Council of the Quad Cities, Moline.
Jim was born Sept. 10, 1927, in Mercer County, a son of Mike and
Mary Wheelan Mack. He married Patricia M. Montz on Jan. 12, 1952, in Rock Island.
He farmed the family farm in Mercer County until 1976, when he
went to work for Mer-Roc FS in Aledo. He retired in 1990.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia; children (and spouses),
Stephen Mack, Davenport, Cindi (Tony) Starcevich, Milan, Rondi (Schaad)
Doyle, Milan, James Mack, Milan, Craig (Tammy) Mack, Davenport;
grandchildren, Christine and Jim Starcevich, Brooke and Brittany Doyle,
Cameron, Carter and Connor Mack; sister, Mary Young, Davenport; brother,
Francis (Donna) Mack, Reynolds; and his guard dog, Cheeko. He was
preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Bernard, John, Joe,
Bill, Dan, Leo and Paul.
