Mrs. Mack
Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret M. Mack, 73, of Viola, were held
at 9:30 a.m. Monday in the Crummy Funeral Home in Viola, and at 10 a.m.
in St. John's Roman Catholic Church in Viola. the Rev. John Love
officiated and burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Preemption Township.
Mr. Mack was dead on arrival at Mercer County Hospital at 11 p.m.
Thursday, July 28.
The former Margaret M. Engstrom was born March 23, 1904 in Sherrard, a
daughter of Gustav A. and Barbara Ann Heim Engstrom. She was educated in
Matherville schools and Rock Island Business College.
She was married to Frank Edward Mack on Sept. 10, 1924 in St. Anthony's
Catholic Church in Matherville.
She was a self-employed seamstress, and a member of St. John's Catholic
Church in Viola, the Altar and Rosary Society and was organist at the
church for 35 years. Mrs. Mack was formerly employed as a clerk in the
Viola post office, and was active in the Fraternal Order of Eagles for
30 years. She was a past president of Matherville Auxiliary Order of
Eagles No. 2019. She was a past state president of Illinois Eagles
Auxiliary, and past Eagles national secretary, national historian and
national trustee. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary
of Viola, where she was a past district director.
Survivors include one son, Frank J. Mack, Rock Island; four
grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Emma Bedford, Matherville.
Her parents, and her husband in May, 1960, one son, Raymond, July, 1975,
and one grandchild preceded her in death. (Aledo Times Record,
