Patricia Margaret Murphy Mack December 23, 1920 - September 17, 2008
PUYALLUP, WASH. - Patricia ("Pat") Mack passed away
peacefully September 17, 2008 in Puyallup, Wash. at the age of 87. She
was born December 23, 1920 in Tower, Minn., to Frederick and Margaret
Murphy. She had one brother, Randall.
Pat spent her childhood years in Duluth, Minn., attended the
College of St. Scholastica, and then worked for Catholic Charities in
Duluth. Pat met and fell in love with her brother's college roommate,
Francis ("Frank") Mack. They married in 1945 and moved to
Lewistown, Mont. where they lived until 1959. Pat and Frank had one
daughter, Kathleen ("Kathy"). Frank had a 25 year career with
State Farm Insurance. In 1959, the family moved to Keizer, Ore. Sadly,
Frank passed away in 1973 at the age of 54.
Pat continued to live in their home until 1998 and then resided
at Keizer Retirement Village for several years before moving to Calif.
and Wash. to be near her family. Pat was a faith-filled person who loved
life. Her Irish wit and energy were contagious, and she spent her life
helping others.
Pat was very active at St. Edward Catholic Church in
Keizer. She and Father Jerry Quintal helped found the "Happy
Hearts" seniors group in 1987, and she was honored to serve as a
Eucharistic Minister there. In her final year at the Regency of Puyallup
Nursing Home (Puyallup, Wash.), she was able to see her family regularly
and celebrate life with them.
Pat is survived by her daughter, Kathy Peters (husband, David);
and three grandchildren, Patrick Lewis (wife, Traci), Jason Lewis (wife,
Kelly), and Kristine Lewis. She is also survived by six
great-grandchildren, Andrew, Joshua, Nathan, Logan, Sydney, and Peyton;
as well as nieces and nephews in Minnesota and Montana. Her family
brought her great joy. Special thanks to the staff at Regency of
Puyallup and Franciscan Hospice for their excellent care.
A Memorial Mass and Celebration of Pat's Life will be held at
1:30 p.m. on Friday, October 3 at St. Edward Catholic Church, 5303 River
Road North, Keizer. Interment will be at Willamette National Cemetery in
Portland with her beloved Frank. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be
made to St. Edward Catholic Church. Pat will be deeply missed by her
family and friends. Peace be with you, Mom (Gramma, Great-Gramma). We
will love you always!
