Ray Mack
Raphael Henry Paul Mack, 72 of Sunrise Beach, Mo., formerly of
Corning, died Oct. 28, 2002, at McAllen Medical Center in McAllen, Texas.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, at Our Lady of
Guadalupe Church in Mission, Texas. The Rev. Roy Snipes will officiate.
Memorials may be directed to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 620 Dunlap
St., Mission, Texas 78572. The Virgil Wilson Mortuary, 2200 N. Conway
Ave., Mission, Texas has change of arrangements. A memorial service will
be held at a later date in Corning.
Mr. Mack, son of Isabel (Curry) and Lewis B. Mack, was born July
21, 1930. He attended Corning schools and graduated in 1948. On Jan. 21,
1950, he married Joan Haley at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Corning.
He operated Mack Billiards from 1950-60. Later they operated the Red
Bull Club. He retired from the Iowa National Guard as a major in 1969.
The family moved to Sunrise Beach, Mo., in 1969 and purchased the Ozark
Bar-B-Que. He was a grand knight in Corning and helped establish the
Knights of Columbus in Camdenton, Mo. He was a member of Hurricane Deck
Lion's Club. Ray and Joan Mack spent the winters in Mission, Texas, for
the past 21 years.
Survivors include wife Joan Mack, son Michael Lewis Mack, all of
Sunrise Beach, Mo.; a sister Mary Margaret (husband John) Lenz of East
Stroudsburg, Pa.; two brothers, Robert (wife Patricia) Mack and Francis
(wife Phyllis) Mack, all of Corning; and James Neff, who lived with the
Mack family for the past 25 years.
He was pre-deceased by his infant son, Patrick Paul; his parents;
and an infant brother, Joseph William.
