Thomas Edward Mack
VIOLA-Thomas Edward Mack, 71-year-old farmer of Gilchrist community,
died at 8:30 o'clock Sunday Evening at Moline Public hospital where he
had been a patient the last week. He had been ill since last summer.
Friends may call at 6 o'clock this evening at Crummy Funeral home
in Viola. The rosary has been tentatively set for Tuesday evening.
Funeral Mass is scheduled for Wednesday morning at St. John's church
with Rev. V. J. Liss, assistant pastor, officiating.
A former director for several years of school district 55, Mr.
Mack had spent his entire life in Gilchrist community, two miles west of
Viola. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and of St. John's church in Viola.
Mr. Mack was born Jan 2, 1881, in Gilchrist where he attended
school. Later he attended Brown's Business college in Galesburg, and was
married Jan. 1, 1917, to Miss Elizabeth Kelly.
Surviving include his wife; three sons, Donald of Viola, Otis of
the Gilchrist address, and Michael of Dubuque, Ia.; a daughter, Miss
Gertrude of Chicago; a brother John of Viola, and eight grandchildren.
