Steve D. Magness

  Steve D. Magness, son of James S. and Mary Magness, was born at New Town, Illinois, November 23, 1860. He died at the age of 70 years, 3 months and 22 days. As a small child he moved with his parents to Missouri. At the age of 13 years he came to Iowa with his mother, brother and sister, his father having passed away in Missouri. His home has been in Iowa since that time. In September, 1883 he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Dudly. About thirty years ago he became a member of the Methodist Episcopal church at Newell, Iowa. This remained his faith until his death, March 15th, 1931. He leaves to mourn his loss one sister, Mrs. Anna Barrick of Carpinteria in California. All other loved one preceded him in death.
  The funeral services were conducted from the Silas Kimm home on Monday afternoon, March 16th. Rev. G. R. Gilbert gave the sermon. Mrs. John L. Grieve sang two solos, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," and "Near My god To Thee." The body was taken to Schaller for burial. Osborn Bros, of Pierson, had charge of funeral arrangements.
The deceased was a cousin of Mrs. Silas Kimm.
