Mrs. Mahalovich, Alpha Resident, Dies Sunday
Mrs. Louise Mahalovich, 63, died at 1:10 p. m. Sunday, Feb. 1,
1953, at her home in Alpha following a stroke Sunday morning.
Funeral services were held at 9 a. m. today from St. John's
Catholic church in Woodhull with Father William Carey in charge. Burial
was in St. John's cemetery at Viola. Knox-Wallin funeral home was in
charge of arrangements, and the Rosary was recited at the Mahalovich
home at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Mrs. Mahalovich was born June 18, 1889 in Vrota, Jugoslavia, the
daughter of Anton and Christina Zema Padavich. She came to the United
States in 1911.
She married Vincent Mahalovich Jan. 6, 1912, at Canton. They
moved to Alpha from Matherville in 1922. Her husband died Feb. 10, 1947.
She was a member of the St. John's Catholic church of Woodhull
and of the Altar and Rosary society, and a member of Croation Fraternal
Union at Matherville.
Nine brothers and sisters, her parents, and her husband preceded
her in death. She is survived by two children, Mrs. Harvard Hahn of
Dixon, and Thomas, at home; two brothers, Anton Padavich of Alpha, and
Joe of Jugoslavia; and a sister, Mrs. Mary Pecarich, also of Jugoslavia.
