David Mahoney
Mustered Out
Tuesday afternoon when the forces of the King of day were
being rapidly mobilized to other fields than ours, the soul of the
veteran David Mahoney reported to the Great Commander.
David Mahoney was born in Ireland seventy-two years ago, came to
this country in early manhood, married Miss Anna Clancy, in
Massachusetts. Later he entered Co. I, seventy-fourth regiment, Ohio
infantry, and served his country with honor until the close of the
rebellion. The deceased came to Adams county in 1868 as one of the road
builders of the Burlington. He was a good man and after a lingering
illness passed away from his Corning home.
His aged wife and helpless invalid daughter, Nellie, survive him
to whom The Free Press, and many friends extend sympathy.
The funeral services were held at St. Patrick's church, Father P.
J. Morin officiating, and interment was made in South cemetery.
