Ellen Maney
Mrs. Ellen Maney died at her home in Corning, Thursday morning,
January 27, 1915, aged 75 years, 6 months and 2 days. Funeral services
were held Friday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Patrick's Catholic church,
conducted by Rev. Father Dollard, and interment was made in Calvary
cemetery. Ellen Flahiff was born in New Orleans, La., July 25, 1839. Her
parents were Daniel and Johanna McLaughlin Flahiff, who came to America
in 1830 from their native land, Ireland. When a child she came with her
parents to Dubuque county, Iowa, in 1850. She was married at Farley, in
Dubuque county, January 22, 1862, to James Maney. In 1870 Mr. and Mrs.
Maney came to Adams county and located on the farm now occupied by Bert
Bentley. Mr. Maney passed from this life the 16th of October, 1883. Mrs.
Maney retired from farm life some years ago and made her home in
Corning. To Mr. and Mrs. Maney nine children were born, two of whom died
in infancy. Those who survive the parents are R. T. Maney, of Regina,
Sask., Canada; Mrs. Anna Sullivan, residing in Mercer township; Mrs.
Bird Sullivan, of Corning; Mrs. Mary Bugg, Hennessey, Okla.; Mrs. Julia
Archer, Greeley, Colo.; James Maney and Miss Margaret Maney, of Omaha.
James Maney, R. T. Maney and Mrs. Anna Sullivan were not permitted to
attend the funeral of their mother, owing to illness and other causes,
but with these exceptions all of the children were here. Beside her
children, Mrs. Maney leaves ten grandchildren and a large circle of
friends to mourn her demise. Note: January 28 was the Thursday date in 1915. | ||
