Virgil Maynard
Funeral services for Virgil Maynard, 69, of the Boden Community, will
be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Reiser Funeral Chapel, Aledo. The
Rev. B. F. Goodin, of Abingdon, will officiate. Burial will be in
Preemption Cemetery.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 this evening, Wednesday, at the funeral home.
Mr. Maynard died at 4 a.m. Monday, April 21, at his home.
He was born March 16, 1911, in Inez, Ky., a son of Monte and Betty
Steppe Maynard. He received his education in Inez rural schools.
On Sept. 1, 1934 he was married to Jessee Meredith in Bowling Green, Ky.
The couple moved to Illinois and lived west of Aledo. The last eight
years they lived in Boden. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator
at the Lynnwood Stone Co., in Iowa.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Daniel, of Muscatine; three
daughters, Mrs. Hope Randolph of Viola; Mrs. Margie Gardner of Iowa
City, Ia.; and Mrs. Carnalee Gawreiuk of McCausland, Ia.; eight
grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Lou Graham of
Panama City, Fla., and Mrs. Lazzie Arnett of Salyersville, Ky., and four
brothers, Dave of Columbus, Ohio, Sam of Waco, Tex., and Lowell and
Gallie, both of Louisa, Ky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, two brothers, and
