Vincent J. McCann
Vincent James McCann, 66, of Route 4, Creston, died Friday
afternoon at Greater Community Hospital following a two year illness.
His funeral was 10 a.m. Monday at the Holy Spirit Catholic
Church. The Rev. Dennis Trausch officiated with burial in the Calvary
Cemetery here. Music was provided by Lynn Baker, organist, and Mary
Halligan, cantor.
Mr. McCann was born Nov. 26, 1918, in Creston to James and
Katherine (nee Stulz) McCann. He married Eileen Adams in 1942 in
Creston. He was a lifelong resident of the Creston area, a farmer,
inspector for the Iowa Commerce Commission and Iowa Department of
Transportation, and a member of the Holy Spirit Parish and the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife, Eileen; a daughter Kathleen (Mrs.
John) Tapken of Kent; tow sons, Michael (wife Beverly) McCann of Des
Moines and Kirk (wife Carita) McCann of Orient; seven grandchildren; and
a brother, Dr. Francis McCann of California, Mo.
He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Pallbearers were Leo Baker, C.C. "Bud" Carl, William
Cihak, Sr., Vince Sullivan, Joe Wallace and Morris Smith.
A memorial was established to the Rosebud Indian Reservation in
Marty, S.D. (Creston News Advertiser, 1985) |
