McCarthy Funeral services for Miss Mary
Ann McCarthy, age 78, were held at St. Joseph's Catholic church,
southeast of Reynolds, at 2:30 on Sunday afternoon. The Rev. J. T.
Shields of Aledo officiated.
Bernard Brennan, Leo Thornton, Mark Hansen, Vincent Conway,
Ernest Moffitt and Charles Conway were the pallbearers and burial was made
in St. Joseph's cemetery.
Death came to Miss McCarthy at 7:30 a.m. on December 29 in a
quad-city hospital after an illness of several months.
Surviving are her sisters, Miss Elizabeth McCarthy of Perryton
and Mrs. Katherine Titterington of Springfield, and a brother Daniel of
Perryton. Her parents, a sister and three brothers preceded her in death.
A daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John McCarthy, Mary was born
on Mar. 17, 1861, and lived most of her life in this community and the
tri-cities. She devoted much of her life to dress making and the care of
children. She was a member of the Davenport Catholic Women's club and
St. Joseph's Catholic church in Rock Island.
