Earl McFarland, Sr. Services Held Friday
Funeral services for Earl H. McFarland were held at 2 o'clock
Friday afternoon, November 13 at the Odebolt Methodist church with the
Rev. C. Dana Boggie officiating.
Edward Korneisel and Mrs. Charles Ferguson were vocalists and
Mrs. Thomas Down was organist. Mrs. Harvey Keller, Sr., and Mrs. John
Siebrecht arranged the flowers.
Burial was in the Odebolt cemetery with S. E. Bye, Ralph Wagner,
Dave Larson, Dale Gronemeyer, Richard Ritzman and Harry Kessler, the attendants.
Earl McFarland, eldest son of Gilmore and Minnie McFarland, was
born at Ellwood, Ia., January 18, 1892. He moved to Odebolt at the age
of one with his parents where he lived until his death. As a young man
he worked at Ahlberg's grocery store. In 1914 he joined his father as a
carpenter and was active in this trade until his death.
December 23, 1915 he married Laura Ellen Moore of Sioux City.
They had five children: Louise, Mrs. Clifford Rabe of Lake View; June,
Mrs. Sherman Thorpe, Lake View, Earl of Mason City; Elaine, Mrs. A. L.
Gray of Mason City; and Tilman of Odebolt.
Survivors are his wife; all five children; 13 grandchildren;
seven great grandchildren; two brothers, Glen and Vern of Odebolt; and
one sister, Mrs. Ethel Hardy of Long Beach, California.
