Thomas F. McGrath
Thomas Francis McGrath passed from this life at Mercy hospital
in Council Bluffs, Tuesday, December 8, 1925. He had been in the
hospital about two weeks taking treatment for pernicious anemia. The
body was brought to Corning Wednesday of last week and funeral services
were held Thursday morning at 9:00 o'clock, at St. Patrick's Catholic
church. Interment was in Calvary cemetery.
Thomas Francis McGrath was born September 22, 1865, in Marshall
county, Ill. He was married to Mary Walsh in Illinois, January 29, 1896,
and the following March they came to Iowa. For thirty years they have
resided on their farm six and one-half miles southeast of Corning, in Mercer township.
Mr. McGrath is survived by his wife and four children. The
children are: Sister Corisello, of Mercer hospital, Council Bluffs;
Raymond and Veronica, Corning, and Fabian.
Sisters who survive are Catherine McGrath of Chicago, and Mrs. J.
Prendegraft, of Streator, Ill. The three brothers are J. M., of Chicago;
J. W., of Wenona, Ill., and M. P. of Leeds, Ill.
The community regrets the death of Mr. McGrath and sympathizes
with the family in the loss of a loved one. He was one of Adams county's
finest types, representing stability and industry and his death is a
distinct loss to the community.
