Funeral services for Joseph M. McManus, 80, of Taylor Ridge
were held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Jinks Funeral Home, Reynolds, and
at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, rural Andalusia. The
Rev. Eugene Gould, pastor, officiated. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island.
Memorials were made to the Heart Fund.
Mr. McManus died Friday, Feb. 1, 1985 at the Moline Public Hospital.
He was born Nov. 29, 1904, in Edgington Township, Rock Island
County, son of Patrick L. and Ellen Ayers McManus. He was a lifetime
Taylor Ridge resident, attending rural Taylor Ridge and Reynolds Schools
and graduating from the St. Ambrose Academy, Davenport.
On June 2, 1937 he married Dorothy Redecker in Milan.
He was a farmer, retiring in 1977.
Surviving are his wife; six sons, Thomas of Milan, Lawrence B.,
Vincent D., Gerald E., and Stephen J., all of Taylor Ridge, and Patrick
J. of Reynolds; 10 grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. Marguerite
Monaghan of Rock Island, and Mrs. Loretta Verschoore and Mrs. Josephine
Verschoore, both of Taylor Ridge.
