LeRoy McManus, Former Mercer Resident, Dies
LeRoy M. McManus, 57, of 1817 9th St., Rock Island, died at
1:40 p.m., Tuesday March 17, 1964 at Moline Public Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 8;30 a.m., at the
Wheelan Funeral Home and 9:00 a.m., at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic
church. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery.
The Rosary will be recited at 8:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral
home, where friends may call after 11 a.m. tomorrow.
Mr. McManus was born May 1, 1906 on a farm south of Reynolds, a
son of Frank and Hermina McManus. He attended Reynolds schools and St.
Ambrose Academy.
He married Isabella Hancq Feb. 28, 1930, in Rock Island.
Mr. McManus farmed for many years in the Reynolds, Joy and New
Boston communities, and moved to Rock Island about nine years ago and
had his own trucking business for several years in Rock Island.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Church.
Surviving are the widow; his mother, Mrs. Frank McManus of Rock
Island; two daughters, Mrs. Barbara Shaffer of Aledo and Miss Patricia
McManus, at home; two sons, LeRoy Jr., of Reynolds, and Michael of Joy;
five grandchildren; a brother, Lawrence of Preemption and a sister. Mrs.
Earl Barnes of Tucson, Ariz.
His father and a brother preceded him in death.
