Aged Resident of Preemption Dies Friday, June 7, At Hospital
Funeral services for Margaret McManus, 84-year-old Aledo
resident, who died Friday afternoon, June 7, 1946, in St. Anthony's
hospital, Rock Island, were conducted Monday morning at St. Catherine's
Catholic church, Aledo.
Rev. C. M. Meyer officiated at the services and burial was in St.
Joseph's cemetery at Preemption.
Born In Ireland
As Margaret O'Connor she was born in Ireland, and came to this
country as a girl of 18. She made her home at first with Mr. and Mrs.
Dan Mack of Preemption, and was married to James McManus of Preemption township.
They made their home in Preemption for many years, and came to
Aledo 26 years ago. Mr. McManus died in 1926. Mrs. McManus was a member
of St. Catherine's church and the Altar and Rosary society of the church.
S he leaves niece, Mrs. Francis Boyles of Reynolds, a nephew,
Frank O'Connor of New York city, and four nephews and two nieces in Ireland.
