Martin J. McManus
A prayer service for Martin J. McManus, 47, of rural Aledo,
was held at 9:15 a.m. Saturday in the Crummy and McKitrick Funeral Home,
Reynolds. Mass was held at 10 a.m. in St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church,
Milan. The Revs. Richard Barclift, Gerald Ward and C. M. Meyer, retired,
officiated and burial was in the St. Joseph's Cemetery, Matherville.
Mr. McManus died Wednesday, Feb.17, in Moline Public Hospital.
Mr. McManus was born Aug. 10, 1934, in Davenport, a son of
Charles and Francis Kelleher McManus.
He attended schools in Reynolds, graduating from Alleman High
School in 1952.
He married Norma Hutchinson Feb. 11, 1956, in Matherville.
He was a farmer in the Reynolds area all his life.
He was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Milan,
Mercer County Farm Bureau, director of the Mercer County Fair Board,
former Preemption Township Trustee, trustee of the Reynolds Fire
Department, coach in Sherrard Little League, chapter farmer of FAA,
member of Illinois and National Simmental Association and the Mer-Roc
Livestock Feeders Association.
He was a veteran of the Korean War.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Kathleen Pantalone of
Hummeltown, PA; a son, Daniel, a student at the University of Illinois,
Champaign; his father, Charles of Aledo; a sister Mrs. Rita Schmitke of
Deerfield; and two brothers Patrick McManus of Aledo and James McManus
of Palos Hills, IL.
He was preceded in death by a daughter and his mother.
