Sandra "Sandy" McMeekan, 68, of Viola died
Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.
Services will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 3, at Dennison
Funeral Home, Viola. Burial is in Viola Cemetery. Visitation will be 10
a.m. to noon Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.
She was born Aug. 15, 1938, in Mercer Township, Ill., the
daughter of Matt and Margie Robson Brown. She married Franklin
"Mick" McMeekan May 10, 1958, in Aledo.
She was a nurse's aide at Mercer County Hospital and Mercer
County Nursing Home. After that, she owned M&S Cleaning, Viola.
She enjoyed gardening, flowers, flea markets and collecting copper.
Survivors include her husband, Franklin "Mick" McMeekan,
Viola; three daughters and spouses, Marla Welch, Aledo, Margie and
Stephen Kehoe, Rock Island, Mickie and Mike VanVooren, Moline; five
grandchildren, Khole, Seth, Ashlee, Kassi and Cody; one great-grandson,
Landen; one sister, Judy Dawson, Milan; one brother, John
"Bud" Brown, Viola. She was preceded in death by her parents.
