Funeral Services For Ed Meehan, 64 Are Planned On Thursday
Funeral rites for Ed Meehan, 64, of the Belmont community,
will be held at 9:30 a. m. Thursday, Nov. 10, 1960, in the Monmouth
Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic church. Burial will be in St.
Mary's cemetery, in Keithsburg.
Mr. Meehan who was well known in Mercer county, succumbed at 5:15 p. m.
on Monday, Nov. 7, while helping a neighbor during corn harvesting
operations. He had climbed to the top of a corn crib to remove ears
which had clogged the equipment and died of a heart attack soon after he
returned to the ground.
Born in 1896
Mr. Meehan was born June 29, 1896 in McDonough county, a son of
James and Elizabeth Larkin Meehan.
He married Viola Brock May 1, 1919 in Keithsburg. Their entire
married life was spent in the Belmont community.
He was a member of the Keithsburg St. Mary's Roman Catholic church.
Surviving are the widow; two daughters, Mrs. George Whitehall,
Monmouth and Mrs. Duane Glidden, Aledo; 10 grandchildren and a sister,
Mrs. John Ledger, New Richmond, Wis.
A son and a brother preceded him in death.
