Eliza Meehan
Funeral Is Held For Mrs. Meehan; Succumbs At 63
Funeral services were held this morning, Wednesday, April 13,
at St. Catherine's church in Aledo for Mrs. Eliza Meehan, 63, who died
at her home on North College avenue at 3:30 p. m. Sunday, April 10,
1938, after two weeks illness caused by a heart ailment. Rev. John T.
Shields, pastor, officiated at the services. Burial was in Calvary
cemetery, Rock Island.
Mrs. Meehan was born in Edgington township May 20, 1873, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Pat McCarthy. She was married January 24, 1900, to
Joseph Meehan of Aledo who preceded her in death about three years ago.
Mrs. Meehan had resided in Aledo since that time. Previously she lived
with her husband on a farm five miles southeast of Aledo.
Mrs. Meehan was a member of the Catholic faith and was affiliated
with the Altar society. She was a charter member of the Mercer County
Home Bureau.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. J. T. Shields of
St. Catherine's church Aledo, at 9:30 Wednesday morning for Mrs. Eliza
McCarthy Meehan.
While she had been ill for several days, her condition was not
considered serious. Death came suddenly at 4:40 on Sunday afternoon,
April 10, at her home on North College avenue, Aledo.
Surviving are four sisters, the Misses Agnes and Sarah McCarthy
of Rock Island, Mrs. John Curry of Taylor Ridge and Mrs. John Kelly of
Edgington; and a brother James who has been living for some time in his
sister's home at Aledo and where, for several weeks he has been quite ill.
Mrs. Meehan was the wife of Joseph Meehan who died several years
ago. For many years the couple lived on a farm not far from
Aledo.--South
