Leota Meehan
Leota G. (Brock) Meehan, 99, Aledo, formerly of Seaton, died
at 7:35 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 3, 1999 at the Lynncrest Manor of Aledo.
She was born Dec. 26, 1899 in Belmont, the daughter of Wilson and
Amanda (Walters) Brock. She was reared and educated in the Belmont area.
Leota married Leo Meehan in January of 1923 at the Keithsburg
Catholic Church. He passed away in 1956.
She was a homemaker and did housecleaning and baby sitting in the Seaton
area for several years. She enjoyed being outside and gardening.
She was a member of the Seaton Center Presbyterian Church. She
was a former member of the Epworth League of the Belmont Church.
Surviving is one granddaughter, Connie Shike (Dan) Hillgoss of
Aledo, two great-grandchildren, Derek (Michelle) Hilligoss of Moline and
Kristin (Dave) Weeks of Streamwood, one great-great-grandson, Brett
Hilligoss of Moline, three brothers, Forrest "Bud" (Maude)
Brock of Monmouth, Edward "Hoop" Brock of Oquawka and Clifford
(Pauline) Brock of Matherville; one sister, Elsie Dillard of Monmouth;
several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter
and son-in-law, Mary Gertrude and Howard Shike; five sisters and twobrothers.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1999 at
Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth with Rev. Gerry Reedell of the
Norwood Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Belmont
Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday morning where the family will be
present one hour prior to the services. Memorials may be made to the
Seaton Presbyterian Church or the Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo, IL.
