Viola Meehan
Funeral services for Mrs. Viola Meehan, 83, of Oak Terrace
Apartments, Monmouth, were held at 1:30 this afternoon, Wednesday, in
the Hoover Memorial Chapel, Monmouth. The Rev. Elmer Logan, pastor of
the Emmanuel Baptist Church, officiated and burial was in St. Mary's
Cemetery, Keithsburg.
Mrs. Meehan died Sunday, June 22, in Community Memorial Hospital, Monmouth.
The former Viola Brock was born Sept. 27, 1896 in Henderson
County, a daughter of W. G. and Olive Walters Brock. She was reared and
educated at Belmont and Seaton schools.
She was married to Edward T. Meehan on May 1, 1918, in Keithsburg.
He died Nov. 7, 1960.
Mrs. Meehan was a former Belmont correspondent for The Times Record.
She was of Methodist faith, a member of the Belmont WSCS, and the
Friendship Rebecca Lodge 22 of Monmouth.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. George Whitehall, Monmouth,
and Mrs. Clyde Lawrence, Aledo; 13 grandchildren; 20
great-grandchildren; six sisters, Mrs. Rhoda Salmons, Mrs. Vera Crouch,
Mrs. Mabel Moran and Mrs. Frances Hilsenhoff, all of Monmouth; Mrs.
Leota Meehan of Seaton and Mrs. James Dillard of Roseville; four
brothers, Clifford Brock of Matherville; Edward Brock of Carthage;
William Brock of Keithsburg, and Bud Brock of Monmouth.
A son, two great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson, a brother
and a sister preceded her in death.
