George G. Miller
George G. Miller, an aged resident of Corning, passed away
Monday, April 14 at the home of his son, Jake Miller, where he had made
his home for 22 years. Funeral services were held at the Hilliard
Funeral Home Wednesday, April 16, conducted by Rev. L. W. Verts and
interment was made in Walnut Grove cemetery beside his wife, who passed
away 24 years ago.
George G. Miller was born February 2, 1842, in Ohio, and died
April 14, 1930, aged 88 years, 2 months and 12 days. He enlisted in the
army in the Iowa Infantry August 15, 1862, and was honorably discharged
August 24, 1865. He was married to Sarah Hinkel in Benton Bounty, March 8, 1866.
Eleven children were born to this union, three girls and three
boys having preceded him in death. The living children are: James A. of
Lenox; John H., of Corning; Charles L., of Meridian, Idaho; Jake E., of
Corning; and Fred N., of Lenox. He is also survived by 34 grandchildren
and 23 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
