William C. Miller
William C. Miller, 73, of Milan, formerly of Taylor Ridge,
died Thursday, Sept. 13, 1990, at Franciscan Medical Center, Rock
Island. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Jinks
Funeral Home, Reynolds, with Rev. Larry Misfeldt of the Taylor Ridge
United Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in the Chapel Grove
Cemetery, Taylor Ridge, with the Reynolds American Legion Post 1166
conducting graveside military services.
The Andalusia Masonic Lodge 516 conducted services at 8 p.m.
during visitation Sunday evening.
He was born Oct. 15, 1916 in rural Taylor Ridge, a son of
Clarence and Eva Hofmann Miller. He was educated in the BlackHawk Grade
School, Taylor Ridge and married Hazel McDermott on Aug. 17, 1946 in
Rock Island. The couple lived in the Taylor Ridge community until moving
to Milan three years ago.
He was employed for 20 years at John Deere Planter Works in
Moline, retiring in 1961. A member of the Taylor Ridge Methodist Church,
he was a 50 year member of the Andalusia Masonic Lodge 516. He was a
member of the Reynolds American Legion Post 1166, the Davenport Elks
Club 298, the Andalusia Eastern Star 617 and was an army veteran of
World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dennis of Albuquerque, NM
and Thomas of Dublin OH; a granddaughter, Nia Miller; two sisters,
Evelyn Nussbaum of Muscatine, IA and Mildred Wainwright of Milan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
