Teresa Moore
Final rites for Teresa Ellen Moore, 88, of Corning were held
Saturday, Feb. 20, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Corning. The Rev.
Fred Reischel officiated.
Casket bearers were Don Hogan, Earl Quinn, Oscar Lynam, Fred
McCard, Roger Moore and Stanley Peterson. Servers were Pat
Boswell and Chris Boswell. Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery in
Corning.
Teresa Ellen Moore was the daughter of James B. and Mary Conroy
Keefe. She was born Oct. 26, 1899, in Taylor County and died Feb. 17,
1988, at Mercy Hospital in Corning.
She attended grade school in rural Taylor County and Normal
Training School in Shenandoah. She taught in rural schools in Taylor and
Adams counties for five years. On May 29, 1923, she married John Linus
Moore at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Corning.
They farmed in Washington Township, Adams County for several
years. They were members of St. Timothy Catholic Church in Reno while
farming and St. Patrick Catholic Church after moving to Corning in 1945.
Mrs. Moore was a member and held offices in the parish Altar
Society and was a charter member of the Catholic Daughters of America
and member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: four
sisters, Johanna Walsh, Sister Mary Pauline Keefe, CHM, Nora Greenwood
and Bernice Brown; two brothers, Francis and James Keefe.
Survivors include four daughters, Sister Rosemary Moore, CHM, of
Corning, Rita Stanton and husband Richard of Denver, Colo., Benita Moore
of Bettendorf and Jane Moore of Denver Colo.; one sister, Elizabeth
Keller of Dubuque; two grandchildren. David Stanton and wife Nancy and
Liz Stanton of Denver, Colo.
