Merrill D. Myers
Merrill D. Myers, 82, of Viola died Thursday, Jan. 18, 1990 at
the Mercer County Hospital in Aledo. Funeral services were held at 10:30
a.m. Monday at his church, St. John's Catholic Church, Viola. Rev. Jim
DeBisshop, assistant pastor of the Mercer County Catholic Churches,
officiated and burial was in St. John's Cemetery, Viola.
Memorials for Ducks Unlimited may be left at Jinks Funeral Home,
Viola, which was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Myers was born June 8, 1907 in Pleasant Valley, Iowa, a son
of Clarence and Mary Drummond Myers.
He married Martha L. DeBlock on Mar. 13, 1934 in Aledo. He was a
tool and die maker for the former International Haverstore Farmall Works
in Rock Island for 29 years retiring in 1966.
He enjoyed duck hunting.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Joan Griffith of Rock
Island; three sons, James L. Myers of Moline, John M. Myers of New
Windsor, and Warren E. Myers of Viola; 10 grandchildren; nine
great-grandchildren; a brother, Warren Myers of Rock Island; and a
sister, Marjorie Cunningham of Detroit, MI.
