Grace Nevius

  W. Grace Nevius, 81, Corning, was born to C.A. "Pat" and Rachael Minerva (Sutton) Paul on Nov. 9, 1916. She died May 14, 1998, at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha, Neb.
  She was a lifetime resident of Corning and graduated from Corning High School in 1935 and attended Peru State College in Nebraska two years then worked at Biggar's, the bakery and as a telephone operator.
  She was married to Harold W. Nevius on Sept. 29, 1940, at Corning.
  Mrs. Nevius worked for the NFO several years, had cooked at Rosary Hospital and taught pre-school in Coming for nine years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, United Methodist Church, the Departmental Club and Rose Ann Auxiliary.
  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1988; twin brother Claude Paul, and brother Cleland Paul.
  Survivors include her daughters Sandra (husband Carl) Johnston, Corning, and Mary Lee (husband Bill) Brenton, Anita; son Donnie (wife Diane) Nevius, Osceola; brother-in-law John (wife Jean) Nevius and sister-in-law Cleda Paul, all of Corning; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
S  ervices were held May 16 at the Corning United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Layman officiating. Burial was in Prairie Rose Cemetery.
  Casket bearers were Pat Paul, Mike Paul, Jeff Nevius, Matt Reier, Mark Logli, Lanny Paul, Steve Paul, Jamie Hogan, Gene Payne and Larry Morrison.
  Honorary bearers were the American Legion Auxiliary, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
  Memorials may be made to the American Legion Auxiliary Scholarship, Creative Corners Pre-school or the United Methodist Church.
  Coen-Beaty Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
