Eldore G. “Bud” Nobis
Eldore G. “Bud” Nobis passed away peacefully at his home
in Hampstead, NC on Friday, May 14, 2004.
He was born on August 14, 1917. Bud played many roles in his
life, including veteran and prisoner of World War II, where he would
return home with two Purple Heart Medals. After the war Bud was a
farmer, electrician, construction worker and served as the Chief of
Police in Canton, MO. His later years were spent working for the
Wilmington Housing Authority as the evening Maintenance Supervisor at
Solomon Towers. However his role as a family man was the one he took
most seriously.
Surviving is his wife of 37 years Evelyn Nobis; three children,
Denny Nobis and wife Barbara of Paris, MO, Jane Ann Bertles of Mexico,
MO, Morris Haskins and wife Loretta of Las Vegas, NV and son in law
Frank Hogue of Hampstead. Seven grandchildren, Brian Nobis of Paris, MO,
Corey Nobis of Columbus Junction, Iowa, Charles G. “Twig” Rollins of
Hamsptead, NC, Stephen Rollins of Hampstead, NC, Angela Rollins
Wilkerson of Huntersville, NC, Michelle Curtis of Haughton, LA, and
Roger Haskins of Las Vegas, NV; and eleven great grandchildren. Two
sisters, Alma Boak and Edna Zell both of Lansing, MI.
Mr. Nobis was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers,
Harold “Newt” Nobis of Arenzville, IL and Melvin Nobis of Bluff, MO,
and most recently by his daughter, Judy Hogue of Hampstead.
All who knew him, called him “Grandpa” because he was a
grandpa to everyone, always kind, friendly and willing to lend a helping
hand. His laughter and positive out look on life will be missed and our
hearts and lives shall be better because of knowing and loving him.
Interment will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery,
where he will be honored with Full Military Honors and a Twenty One Gun Salute.
Memorials may be made to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice in
Wilmington, NC, any other local Hospice or charity of choice. The family
may be contacted at the home in Hampstead, NC.
The family would like to give special appreciation to Mrs.
Barbara Dawson for her love and care shown to Bud and his wife.
