Cecilia Northup

  The community was unspeakably saddened Saturday when it learned that Mrs. Roy Northup had passed away so closely on the birth and death of her infant son a few days previous. Mrs. Northup seemed to be recovering nicely but a sudden turn for the worse resulted in her death, which takes away a devoted mother from a family which needed her so greatly. Mrs. Northup's death occurred in St. Catherine's Hospital, in Omaha, and the body was brought back to Corning by Roy Hilliard and funeral services were held in the St. Patrick's Catholic church at 10:00 a. m., Monday morning, conducted by Rev. Fr. Powers. Interment was made in Calvary cemetery.
  Cecelia White was born April 9, 1888, in Adams county, Iowa, near Nodaway, and passed away Saturday, January 24th, 1931, aged 42 years, nine months and fifteen days. She was the daughter of Matthew and Mary White and had spent all of her life near Nodaway.
  On February 12, 1908, she was united in marriage to Roy Northup and to this union were born eleven children. Francis Dean and Robert Matthew preceded her in death. She leave to mourn her untimely passing, her devoted husband, her children, Mrs. H. V. Good, of Nodaway; Byron, Vincent, Lawrence, Leo, Donald, Harry, Teresa, and Joseph at home; one grandchild, Elinor Jean Good; and two brothers, A. J. White of Omaha and L. E. White of Burlington, Iowa. She was a kind and loving mother and her thoughts were always for the welfare of her family. Her untimely death will be mourned by all who knew her.
  Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Lew White, of Burlington; Mrs. J. W. Kerf, of near Iowa City; and Al White and wife, of Omaha, the latter arriving Monday, but were too late for the services.

  The still-born child of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Northup, who live southwest of Nodaway, was brought back to Corning Wednesday and short services were held in St. Patrick Catholic church Wednesday morning. Interment was made in Calvary cemetery. The child was born Monday, January 19th in St. Catherine's hospital in Omaha. Sympathy is extended to the sorrowing family.
