Mrs. M. O'Brien Passed Away Last Friday

One of the Oldest Settlers of This Vicinity Called - Funeral Monday

Mary O'Connor was born in Ireland, in May, 1852 and died at her home midway between Ute and Dunlap on March 23rd, 1923, at the age of 71 years. In 1873 she was united in marriage to Mr. Michael O'Brien at Rock Island, Ill. She also leaves seven grand children.
She has been a resident of Iowa for many years, and her friends are legion. Mrs. O'Brien was a Christian woman, ever considerate of the welfare of others, a true helpmate and a loving affectionate mother. Her interests were centered in the family circle and her children were indeed blessed by the influence of such a mother.
Funeral services were held from the St. Patrick's church Monday at ten o'clock a. m., Rev. Father G. J. Toher officiating.
Those from out of town who attended the funeral are: Mrs. Barnes, Jas. Mack, Mrs. Shamn, Miss Susie O'Connor of Illinois; Jack Meehan, Tom Meehan, Ed. Champion, Mrs. Houlihan of Denison; P. J. Lally and Mr. Hickey of Manilla; Thos. Meehan, Tom Costello, Mrs. Costello and John Canary of Vail, and P. J. Kulligan of Chicago.
