Carrol Oaks
MONMOUTH, Ill. -- Services for Carrol F. Oaks, of 706 N. I
St., will be 2 p.m. Friday at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth.
Burial will be in Warren County Memorial Park. Visitation is today at
the funeral home, with the family present 7-8:30 p.m. Mr. Oaks died
Tuesday, July 23, 2002, at Cottage Hospital, Galesburg.
He was a life-long farmer and had a calf operation. Along with
farming, he was the first clerk at the sale barn north of Monmouth when
it was built by Russell Woodcock and clerked through the years for other
owners. He also had sold machinery at Olin and Swanson Allis Chalmers dealers.
He was born May 15, 1918, in Hale Township, Warren County. He
married Ruth McCullough in 1939 in Galesburg. Memorials may be made to
First United Methodist Church or Warren County Cancer Society for
Prostate Cancer Research.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth; Barbara Ruwe, Davenport; son,
Howard F., Monmouth; a grandson; a step-great-grandson; and sisters,
Katherine Lewis, Iowa City, and Bertha Young, Monmouth.
