Mrs. J. Ocken Dies Six Days After Mother
Passes Away At Home In Breda Early Today Of Heart Trouble
Funeral Services Will Be Held Friday At St. Bernard
Breda (Special) - Mrs. Joe Ocken, whose mother passed away six
days ago, died at 12:30 o'clock this morning at her home in Breda. She
had been ill the past six weeks with heart trouble. Mrs. Ocken had been
improving, but suffered a relapse Friday and her condition had been
critical since. Her mother's death was thought to have caused the relapse.
Funeral services will be held at 9 o'clock Friday morning at the
St. Bernard church and interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Born Near Breda
Mrs. Ocken was the former Delia Schaa, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerhardt
Schaa. She was born on a farm southwest of Breda, Feb. 20, 1887. When
three years of age, she accompanied her parents to Pocahontas county
where they lived for several years. In 1900 they returned to Breda.
Mrs. Ocken became the bride of Joe Ocken on June 11, 1912, in the
St. Bernard church at Breda.
Survivors
Survivors include her husband and three children, Chester, 21,
Eileen, 16, and Dale, 6; one sister, Mrs. Tom Eberle (Anna) of Varina,
three half sisters, Mrs. Peter Bannick of Cumberland, Mrs. Herman Kluse
of Odebolt and Mrs. Christine Schroeder of Breda, and two half-brothers,
Stephen Vanderloo of Carroll and Herman Schaa of Danbury.
Mrs. Ocken was a sister-in-law of Henry Ocken of Carroll.
Her father died in November, 1902. Mrs. Ocken had been an active
member of the Christian Mother's society.
