Robert "Bob" Panther
DAVENPORT -- Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for
Robert Joseph "Bob" Panther, a resident of Davenport will be
10 a.m. on Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial
will be in the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation will
be today from 3-7 p.m. at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home,
Davenport. The family invites you to join them for a family Rosary at 3
p.m. There will be a Prayer Service offered at 7 p.m.
Bob died peacefully on Saturday, July 12, 2003, at home
surrounded by his family following a courageous battle with cancer. He
was born January 31, 1947, in Davenport, a son of Everett Maurice and
Mary Anne (Bailey) Panther. He married Frances Hart on July 31, 1971, in
Davenport. He was a graduate of Assumption High School, Class of 1965.
Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War. Bob
was an employee of the Rock Island Arsenal for many years, where he was
a machinist. He was a NASCAR enthusiast and enjoyed fishing and golfing.
Memorials can be made to the church or to Hospice of VNA.
Survivors include his mother, Mary Panther, Davenport; a sister
and brother-in-law, Sally and Allan McCord, Kent, Wash.; brothers and
sisters-in-law, Michael Panther, Bettendorf and his fiancée, Mary Knox;
John and Julie Panther, Davenport; Tim and Debbie Panther, Sterling
Heights, Mich.; Phillip Panther, Long Grove, Iowa; and Kieran and
Loretta Panther, St. Louis, Mo.; and many loving nieces and nephews. His
father, Everett and a nephew, Jimmy Panther, preceded him in death. May
they rest in peace.
