Dorothy Parchert
Dorothy M. Parchert, 96, of Illinois City, died Wednesday, July 25,
2007, at Mercer County Nursing Home, Aledo.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Zion Lutheran Church,
Taylor Ridge. Burial is in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation is 3 to 7
p.m. Saturday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan. Memorials may be
made to Zion Lutheran Church or to Mercer County Nursing Home.
The former Dorothy McDonald was born Sept. 22, 1910, at home near
Illinois City, a daughter of Maynard and Myrtle Andrews McDonald. She
married Maynard W. Parchert on Oct. 8, 1930, in Edgington. He died on
April 21, 1989.
Dorothy was proud to be a farm wife; she enjoyed cooking for her
family, tending her garden and helping her late husband when needed. Her
family was most important to her and she loved the times they were together.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Taylor Ridge, and the
Rock Island County Home Bureau.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Mary
Lou Parchert, Illinois City; daughters and sons-in-law, Bernice and Bill
Kelly, Aledo, and Marilyn and Vernon Egland, Bettendorf; grandchildren,
Jeffrey, Darren, Alan and Rhonda Parchert, Renee Schuette, Debbie Blaser,
Brenda Rick, Karen McConaughey, John Kelly and Keith Egland; 25
great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and a sister,
Hazel Thor, Galesburg. She was preceded in death by a brother, Glen
McDonald; and sisters, Gladys Jahn, Alice Acker and Mary Jones.
