Obituary
Mrs. Frank Parker
Alice Ann Story, daughter of Solomon and Maria Story, was born
September 13, 1857, at Epworth, Iowa, and died at the home of her son
Harry in Omaha on July 21, 1941, aged 83 years, 10 months and 8 days.
She was married to the late Francis F. Parker at Epworth, Iowa,
on February 28, 1878. To this union eleven children were born. The
husband and two sons, Edgar and Mack, proceded her in death.
She leaves to mourn her passing one step-daughter, Mrs. Hattie
Bush, Albuquerke, New Mexico; two daughters, Mrs. May Beebe, Lake
Cowichan, B. C.; and Mrs. Alice Moeller, Walthill, Nebraska; seven sons:
Walter E, Washington State; Francis F, Los Gatos, California; Harry,
Omaha, Nebr.; Arthur, Gordon, Nebr.; George, Beaver City, Nebr.; Newell
and Ted, Firebaugh, Calif.; thirty-two grand-children and seventeen
great-grand-children.
In her girlhood she united with the Christian Church at Epworth,
Iowa, but in later years she transferred her membership to the Methodist
Church at Decatur, Nebraska.
Mr. and Mrs. Parker were old well known and highly respected
citizens, not only of Decatur, but of Burt County in general. They came
to Nebraska in 1879 settling first in Decatur, where Mr. Parker became
one of the pioneer merchants. Deceased afterward lived with her husband
in Lyons and Oakland, where he operated livery barns in the horse and
buggy days, and also in Tekamah, while he was servings as County
Sheriff, but always returning to Decatur, which was their last permanent
home and where her husband died.
Her mortal remains were brot back to Decatur and interred beside
those of her husband, the funeral taking place at the Methodist Church,
Monday afternoon, the Pastor, Rev. H. C Seidel, delivering the oration.
Out of town relatives attending the obsequies were Mr. and Mrs.
Merrill Thorpe, Lake View, Iowa; Donna Belle Parker, Firebaugh, Cal.;
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Parker and daughter, Gordon, Nebr.; George Parker,
Beaver City, Nebr.; Mr. and Leland Nelson, Rosalie, Nebr.; Mr. and Mrs.
Harry Parker, Omaha, Nebr.; Mrs. May Beebe of Lake Cowichan, B. C., who
had been with her mother in Omaha for some time before her demise and
Mr. and Mrs. Frasher Cook of Lyons, Nebr.
