Edgar E. Parker
Edgar E. Parker was born at Oakland Nebraska, September 20,
1894 and died at Edward Hines Jr. Hospital at Maywood Ill., December 10,
1928 being at the time of his death 34 years 2 months and 20 days old.
He moved with his parents to Decatur Nebraska, in May 1903, where
his home has been ever since.
He served his country in the World War, enlisting in the 5th
Nebraska Infantry on July 16, 1917, was a member of the American
Expeditionary forces, and was discharged at Camp Dodge Iowa, July 1919,
with the rank of Quartermaster Sergeant.
He then re-enlisted and was appointed to the office in the
recruiting service, serving one year in this branch, after which he
returned to his home at Decatur.
In 1925 while working in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, he suffered
an injury from which he never recovered.
Edgar was a kind and loving son, always thoughtful of his
parents, and considerate of others.
He leaves to mourn his death, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Parker of
Decatur and seven brothers and four sisters: Walter Parker of Seattle
Washington; Frank Parker of Oakland, California; Arthur Parker of Gordon
Nebraska; Harry Parker of Gresham Nebraska; George Parker of Walthill
Nebraska; Newell Parker of Decatur Nebraska; Mrs. May Beebe of Alberta
Canada; Mr. Alice Mueller of Decatur Nebraska; Mrs. Elma Kirk of Cortes
Colorado and Mrs. Hattie Bush of Albuquer, New Mexico besides a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by one brother Mack, who died in 1917.
The funeral took place last Friday at 2:00 P. M., from the M. E.
Church, Rev. W. O. Jones delivering the oration. The service were under
the auspices of the American Legion and the remains were laid to rest in
Hillcrest Cemetery with military honors.
