Gladys Pearson
Gladys Mildred Pearson, 91, of Heartland Health Care Center,
Moline, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, at the center.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Bethany Baptist Church, Moline.
Burial is in Moline Memorial Park.
Visitation is 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Esterdahl Mortuary, 6601 38th
Ave., Moline. Memorials may be made to Bethany Baptist Church (for camp
scholarships), Christian Friendliness, or the Quad City Symphony Orchestra.
Gladys was born Feb. 1, 1910, in rural Princeton, Ill., the
daughter of Andrew and Augusta Pihl Peterson. She married Frank Arthur
Pearson on Sept. 15, 1934. He preceded her in death on July 24, 1995.
Before marriage, Gladys was employed in several prominent Moline
homes. She was a homemaker, loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, where she taught
Sunday School and was on the Hospitality Committee and in Women's
Missions groups. Gladys enjoyed being a Western Illinois Baptist Camp
cook for about 25 years.
She loved cooking, baking, gardening, sewing and music.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Helen and Jim
Gager, Coal Valley, and Virginia and Frank Ryner, Rock Island;
granddaughters and husbands, Judy and Jeff Donohue, Grayslake, Ill.,
Caryn and Bryant Swanson, Chicago, and Sandy and Kevin Jones, Moline;
sister, Lillian E. Filbrun, Springfield, Ill.; brother, Stanley A.
Peterson, Princeton; sisters-in-law, Edna Behrens, Moline, Ethel
Pearson, St. Paul, Minn., and Florence Pearson, Temecula, Calif.; and
many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents,
husband and a sister, A. Margaret Peterson.
